Hello!
It looks like this blog has been without a writer for awhile - so, allow me to introduce myself to you.
My husband is the diabetic in our family. He has agreed to allow me to use him and his symptoms/complications as I write this blog. That’s being a pretty good sport, dont you think? I do.
So a bit about us this time and I will start to get into the meat of it (so to speak) next week.
We grew up in Columbus, Ohio, but have lived in small town Alaska since 1978. Small town Alaska is a great place to raise children - we raised our two daughters here and they are the better for it. We are now grandparents to 7 of the brightest, funniest, best(est) grand”babies” that we could ever hope to have.
Hubby is the only one who has diabetes. Isn’t that a blessing?
One daughter had a bit of trouble with pregnancy related diabetes, but has had no trouble since. We don’t knock wood in our family - but we do praise Him for His blessings!
Hubby was diagnosed while we still lived in Ohio. It was either just before I became pregnant with our now 32 year old daughter - or during that pregnancy that he was diagnosed. I remember it being at that time, because I lost a lot of weight during and after that pregnancy - and he showed me up by losing 20 pounds more than I did. (Show-off!)
Of course, the doctor had placed him on a very strict diet - and that was the reason for his weight loss.
As we go along our way in this blog-journey, I will share more about that time and the time since.
Come along with me - and let’s explore the diabetic lifestyle.
