Diabetic Concerns: Kidney Stones Continued…
Greetings All!
Today we are going to talk about another form of Kidney Stone. These stones are called cystine stones. They are very rare and found in only 1% of all cases of Kidney stones. They are caused when a person has a rare condition in their family called Crystinuria. This condition is caused by the lack of movement of crystine, lysine, etc… to the gastrointestinal tract.
This form of kidney stones can be found also after a urinary tract infection or due to renal stones being found. Cystine helps make up the muscles and the nerve and can cause great damage if not all is sent to the correct spot. As with all forms of stones it is important to drink lots of fluids as well as consulting a physician if you find anything in your family.
