Diabetic Concerns: Kidney Stones Continued…

by

Salutations All!

Yesterday we talked about Kidney stones, now I would like to go into detail more on the forms. Today we are discussing the most common kind of Kidney Stones ” Calcium Stones”. These stones form when your body intakes to much calcium and can not break it down properly. Most people develop this form.

When your body has too much calcium it is called “Hypercalciuria”. Most Kidney stones can be prevented from re-occurring by changing your diet. Though most things with calcium are beneficial there are a few things that your body has trouble breaking down such as leafy vegetables. They provide things that fight the absorptions of your calcium.

There are a few things that you can easily break down, to get the recommended amount of calcium such as:

1. Oatmeal
2. Cottage Cheese
3. yogurt
4. cheese

The recommended amount of calcium per day is 1000mg for women before menopause. After menopause the recommended amount is 1200mg. Avoid taking in calcium from supplements unless you speak with your physician. Most calcium stones can be prevented if you watch the foods you eat, as well as intake the right foods.
